Hitachi, Takahagi, and Oku Kuji are home to tourist attractions such as Fukuroda Falls, Hanazono Shrine, and Mt. Nantai; sightseeing events such as the Hitachi Sakura Festival, Jusan Pilgrimage, and Hitachi Port Festival; and local delicacies such as anko-nabe, hoshi-imo, and ankimo-imo.
Hitachi City is located in the northeastern part of Ibaraki Prefecture, with most of the city area belonging to the former Taga County and part to Kuji County. The city is known as the birthplace of Hitachi, Ltd., a general electronics manufacturer. To avoid confusion between the name of the city and the name of the company, the people of Hitachi refer to the city as Hitachi (Hitachi) and Hitachi Seisakusho (Hitachi) as Nissei.
Sightseeing spots in Hitachi City include Hitachi Kamine Park, which has three zones: a zoo, an amusement park, and a leisure land, and is also a comprehensive park that can be enjoyed by the whole family and is suitable for sightseeing.
The Tadashi Yoshida Music Memorial Hall is a music memorial hall for Tadashi Yoshida, a composer who won the National Medal of Honor for his works such as "Irokuni no Oka" and "Dokudemo Yume" (Always Dreaming), which were celebrated throughout Japan after the war, and introduces his many honors including the Japan Record Award, his life and works. It is a recommended tourist spot for music lovers.
Takahagi City is located in the northeastern part of Ibaraki Prefecture and prospered as a coal mining town after the Meiji era. Nowadays, the city is mainly engaged in lumber processing. The eastern part of the city faces the Pacific Ocean, the urban area is flat along the coast, and to the west is part of the low Taga Mountains, with the majority of the city's area located in these mountains.
The most famous tourist attraction in Takahagi City is Hananuki Valley. Along the Hananuki River, there is a series of stunning scenery including Nabarikebuchi, Fudo Falls, and Shiomitaki Suspension Bridge. In autumn, the entire valley turns red and yellow, and visitors can enjoy viewing the autumn leaves from the promenade.
Fuji in winter from the observatory at the top of Mt. Tsuchidake, one of the 100 best views of Mt. Fuji in the Kanto region, and a walk through the forest in the midst of nature is well known as a pleasant experience. Tatebayashi, a mountain that has long been revered as a center of mountain worship, is located in Hanazono Hananuki Nature Park and is one of the 100 most scenic spots in Ibaraki.
Oku Kuji refers to the upper reaches of the Kuji River in northwestern Ibaraki Prefecture, and is nationally known for scenic spots such as Okuji Gorge and Fukuroda Falls. Fukuroda Falls, one of the three major waterfalls in Japan, is also known as Shikudo Falls, and the sheer force of the water cascading down the great rock face is overwhelming. The waterfall spans the Taki River, a tributary of the Kuji River, and boasts a height of 120 meters and a width of 73 meters.
